Booking Flights and Beds
Phone calls, emails, decision and all that fun stuff. It has been a little crazy trying to figure out what to do. Much of this is because we don't know what we are doing; and there is a over booking at the Hotel & Airline we had hoped to use. So I guess we go to plan B which is just now be created since A was never made. Did that make sense?
I think we are getting closer to our plans. I got the suitcases out yesturday a set them up in the reading room (blue room). The room has Older Sisters's clothes we just got her laid out, and the one little dress for little sister. I have a couple of dolls out, a pack of #2 diapers, and a little pair of shoes for Older Sister. I haven't felt like packing yet but I am getting it ready for the day when it hits me.
The boys have been doing great. They are getting excited and nervous all at the same time. We have tried to explain to them about our trip; I think BB understands us and lg understands what a 2yr old could understand. They know that Grammie is coming to stay with them and are excited to have her here with them. They also have their aunt Leesa here too with all the cousins to keep their minds busy. I hope they well be able to enjoy themselves. OR should I say I hope we will enjoy ourselves and not think to much about that. You know how we stress about our boys, this will be good for all of us.
I can't leave without some pictures.

Pressing Forward

The counting has begun. We have an almost picked day. Grammie will hopefully be able to make it here a couple days early to get her tour of the house and the boys. We are so glad she will be coming. I am just so happy to finally say I know I will be giving my girls lots of loves by "Older Sisters"-OS's birthday. It also looks like we will be home some time around that day too.

Tonight I went and bought my very first girls outfit. I loved it! It was so much fun and I can see how easy it could be to get into trouble with all those cute sweaters and pants. The shoe part was also fun. One thing I couldn't find was some really cute dresses. But oh how fun all these colors are. I would love a girl shower for the girls. Well I had to post a couple more pictures of the girls.
The one were she is being held is a good picture of how tiny her little legs are. She is being held by one of the caregivers; and another one of that beautiful smile from OS.

The picture of them together was a special day. This was the day that OS was told that LS was going to be her sister in her new family. She was also told about us. The first time I saw this picture I had tears coming down my cheeks my girls were together and that made this mom happy. This is how it would be for the rest of their lives; together as a family forever.
Okay so here is one with a face that says "I have had enough of those smiles, I am done!"
A true child having enough of the camera.
I hope all had a wonderful Christmas, we did. Very low key the way it should be. We did a month long slow celebration and we really enjoyed each other and the true meaning of Christmas.
I love my family!

We can GO!
Click on the pictures to see these sweet little faces.
What a wonderful feeling this is. I have so much to do now. I have begun a list and it is still growing of things to do, to get, or to pack. It is crazy. I can't believe I have date to look forward to.
I am so happy! I am so happy! I am so happy!
I have called the senior missionaries and am waiting a response. We want to go to church while there. I think it will be a wonderful experience to be with others of our same beliefs in a far away country. I not sure if I have mentioned this but it is also nice because Daddy and I have wanted to serve a mission ourselves in Africa and this would just be wonderful to meet and see what we have hope for in person.
Heavenly Father has been so very good to us. He has opened so many doors and windows for us. I am so grateful to him for this blessing. He is great.

Ethiopian Princesses
This has been an amazing journey thus far. I still can't believe that my dream and hopes and heart desires are coming true. I knew I was always meant to have an Ethiopian Princess for my daughter and now I have two. I feel so blessed. Can you blame me?
We have gone through Children's House International to find our little ones. They have been great in the photo department. We have recieved so many photos of our girls. In our referral we recieved 96. Yes! That was 96. Previously to that we had recieved about 10-20 others. In total it is over 100 photos. How priceless, we have photos of where they stayed at the first care center, some of the care givers, photos of the new care center, scenery, our director there in Addis, and of coarse mostly the girls. What a blessing these photos will be for them. I hope to get more while we are there and even hope to have a chance to meet some family. I just want to say Thank you. Thank you for your prayers, Thank You for your comments and strength. And most of all Thank you for your support & love.

Big News!
We went through court today! We passed!
Here are pictures of our new little ones. Aren't they so beautiful? Please post your thoughts they will be put in their baby books. Thank you! What a wonderful blessing they are to our family. We still don't have any idea on travel dates but will be excited to hear. The Lord has been so kind we have so much to be grateful for. He has truly heard and answered our prayers. We will continue to pray for a speedy process at this point I am hoping for travel by the end of January and hope to be with "Older Sister" (OS) for her birthday. I have been acting like a 5 year old in a toy store. Has anyone eles been there before, just so happy about something so wonderful?

A Mothers Love
Okay so I didn't know just how hard this would be. I have been dying to be with the girls. It has been really hard this week & weekend. I feel like a mom who lost her children and has now found them. I just want to go hold them, & hug them; I want to be with them. At times my stomach feels like butterflies and other times it feels just sick with longing. At each step you would think that at that moment it is the hardest moment to be in; but I am quickly learning that is so untrue each step is hard. So hard that you even start to think up plans to go sooner. Well the fact is I am having a hard time and there is no way around that excitement or pain. It is a good thing. It shows my love for the children.
Another thing I have found myself lost in thoughts about is; hoping for a smile on the older girls face when she meets us for the first time. Even a warm embrase between us. What will it be like? Will she know us? Will she want to come to us?
I am so grateful for this opportunity to be a mommy to these little girls. Heavenly Father has been so kind to us. He has been with us through this process and we have felt his love and support. As a matter of fact the other night while the boys were saying their night prayers they had a special experience while mentioning the girls names in the prayer. Both Daddy and BB felt really warm in their chest. Even BB was touch enough to say something about it.
Please oh please send my babies home soon!

From who's window?

This is a picture taken last night up on the hill above our house.

As Daddy says I am a princess.

Just behind us was the Moon.

(These are daddy's pics.)

Dr's & NP Report
Both Dr & NP had the same to say expect the NP gave more info. Both did this for free out of the kindness of their hearts. What wonderful people. Heres what the NP said:
"First, about Liya. Overall she seems well, looks and sounds delightful. Her height and weight are proportional (25th and 50th percentiles). Developmental milestones look appropriate too. She seems to have a mild, iron-deficiency anemia (probably due to inadequate dietary sources of iron--usually meat, other proteins, and dark green leafy vegetables, can result from excessive milk/fluid intake). I'm not sure what the small bumps or papules on her forehead are. They can be anything from small sebaceous cysts (acne-like collection of oil under the skin) to other benign conditions of the skin. They can appear on the face, back of the head, chest, etc. It's hard to know what to make of them from the picture and as I think I told you, skin conditions are outside my usual experience.

Next, about Meg. What a cutie! She is petite for her age, but proportional. Her height is at the 5th percentile, weight is below the 5th percentile. Her height compared to her weight are at the 10th percentile. She is at 90% of her ideal body weight (normal is 90-110% of Ideal Body Weight). What all this means is that she is small but height matches her weight. Her head circumference is at the 25th percentile which is also proportional. Her blood test suggests a viral infection (possibly a result of immunizations given just four days before) but no anemia. Developmental milestones also appropriate."
What great news, Robin (NP) talked to me on the phone for awhile last night and it was a lot of fun to hear someone eles so happy for us. Thank you Jill for the help.

My girls..
I spoke with our agency representative today. We still don't have a guess time frame but she did say that Abidsa in Ethiopia has been so excited about our file that he has already submitted it for court. He received a number and is now just waiting on our referral to get back to him. I don't know what this means as far as time but we will be sending our referral back today. So it should go back to Ethiopia by the end of this week.
They have told the girls that they are going to be sisters and that they have a new mommy and daddy. They will also be moving the girls to the new care center. ("The Thomas Center") We get to send pictures of us with this package for the oldest girl. Oh my! Oh my! I am so excited!

  • List thoughts!
It has been fun listing the daily things I am grateful for or that touch me in a day. It makes you relize how many good things happen. I has made me smile when I reread some of them. What a wonderful way to remember the good things that happen without taking alot of time to do it. I will continue to "List". Maybe not everyday but as those moments come I will write them down.
Cheers to happy moments!
It's in the Genes
The other day I was getting BB ready for school. As we were putting his shoes on I heard him say "It doesn't work". I asked him what doesn't work? He said "my toes, I can't cross them over on the other toe". What? (with a smile) I couldn't help but to start laughing. This is something I have tessed my sweetheart about. BB didn't know that his daddy has the same habit. I just thought to my self how funny that is, they both do the same thing. It must be in the Genes!
Sweet expressions
Today I saw one of the sweetest face expressions. I have hung up the girls picture next to our family pictures in the hall. What a surprise it was for lg; he turned the corner and started calling out "mommy mommy thaz pictuchers". His eyes were shining with joy and happiness. His lips smiling from ear to ear as he called out their names. By now he is laughing with that same joy saying "come mommy come".
I wonder what he will think when they actually come home for the first time.

JOY! JOY! JOY!
2 Girls

We got our referral. We are so excited. I was sleeping when the door bell rang and "I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter" Hee Hee. And it was our referral package.

Here are some details we can give:

  • OS - will be 4yrs on 1/25/06
  • OS - Has a sweet little nose
  • OS - Konjo (beautiful) eyes that are dark
  • OS - Little girl attitude
  • OS - Cheeks to kiss and love
  • OS - And hair to braid
  • ls - is 3.5 months
  • ls - weights 9lbs
  • ls - is 22 and 3/4 in long
  • ls - soft light wavy hair
  • ls - big ayn (eyes)
  • ls - pretty lips & lovable cheeks

We just love them!

I would love to post pictures & was about to when we found out that we need to keep that information private until the adoption is final. Showing the pictures could jeopardize the US adoption program in Ethiopia. So of coarse I am sure you understand.

So what does this mean. We will now send back the referral and wait for a court date and we hope all will go well. I have heard others refer to this day and the most important day. This is when our adoption will be finalized i.e. the girls will no longer be classified as orphans. In our hearts they already belong to our family and we want to see them here quickly. So that is our next prayer that things will move forward and all will go well in court.

Is Winter here?

Yep! We received are first good snow fall last night while sleeping. We have had some small amounts but this one was about 3inches. Not a lot but enough to cause a white blanket on everything. I love it . It is so pretty and at night you don't need street lights because the moonlight bounces of the snow and lights everything up. Just beautiful.

We have a new update on our package. It was sent to Washington instead of Louisiana. They were going to re-route it today for tomorrow delivery and then she was hoping to get all the paper work done on it & send it back out tomorrow overnight to us. Oh I hope, it will be so much fun to get the package and learn new things about the girls. And I can't wait to post their pictures so all of you can see these little girls. Please keep us in your prayers, what am I saying I am sure we are there already. Thank you!!!!

  • Daddy is wonderful.
  • I heard news about our adoption
  • Zim made me laugh (leeping in the air)
  • Having to organize
  • A hubby who loves me

Our referral should be coming soon.
I talked with our agency today and she said she has the tracking number for the package and it should have come today but didn't. Hopefully tomorrow. Once she receives it she needs 24 hrs to prepare it and then she will send it to us. I am so excited. From the sounds of it all should be well. If the package has been sent then it should be okay - right? But as I talked with Blaine today I know it is not real until we have it. It is just so hard.
Our regular home life has kept us busy. BB is so happy to be back at school and lg is missing him when he is gone. The long holiday weekend with daddy was wonderful and lg is sad he is back to work. I am back to trying to get the things around here back in order from my trip to CA and the Christmas stuff out. The boys have loved it. We decided to save the money on the tree and put up our artificial trees again this year. It looks beautiful. I even left all the ornaments where the boys and DH put them. I had a stash of extras so I could fill in the holes and it worked out great. I like keeping what they do so that they feel apart of it. Last year I waited for them to go to bed and then I fixed it. I still felt bad, so this year it worked out perfect and it really does look awesome.
I have missed posting pictures so I will get to that soon. It sure makes it fun, and pretty. Daddy & I have some photos we have taken that are just beautiful and I want so much to share them. Wait I bet I can talk him into down loading them. Hold on!!!!!!!

Is that just beautiful or what? It is a picture of San Francisco where daddy works. This one is his and the Dahlia is mine.

Where did the vitamins go!
We found the stash. BB has been stuffing his vitamins under the couch cushion. And when we asked him where else he has stuffed them he doesn't "remember". So i guess I will be on a mission. And I thought he liked them, what a sneek.
I have to admit that we got a good laugh out of it when he wasn't with us. I love our boys they keeps us laughing. Life is good.
Hope for Tomorrow
Tomorrow should be the day we get our referral according to the last words we heard. "Monday at the latest"Oh how I want to get excited, but we have heard dates before so I am holding back my excitement. I will post as soon as we hear anything.

Last monday night we recieved a letter from the INS office. Oh how I love working with them. When we originally droped off our papers I asked if they need any extras documents. No was the reply even after asking are you sure. Well, it turns out that there was more documents to turn in and they are now asking for them. So when I e-mailed the INS office back to ask if they wanted originals or copies this was the reply:

You can submit copies of your Birth and marriage certificate (we reserve the right to request the orginals). Please make sure you submit a complete copy, often we receive only part of the documents so we have to reject it. Also make sure you can read the copies.

You must make an info pass appointment to drop off forms. Please be advised we will not review your file until it is complete, at that time the 90 day period will start. We have numerous I-600A pending so be advised that it may take a few months from when we have a complete file.

What! Start over we just waited almost 3 months for you to tell us that you need more and we are starting over on time. Not to mention we asked you in the begining about these documents. AHHHHHH! So frustrating!!
Well on Friday we got our INFO pass and took in the papers. Oh I hope that everything goes well the rest of the way with them. Please keep us in your prayers. We really need these approval.

I spoke with our agency on Wednesday and was told that we should hear about our referrals at the latest on Monday. I am so hopeful and just can't stop praying in my heart for that to happen. We are ready to take these pictures and names that we have had for some time and run with them. I know that we have tried our best but we are attached and hoping all will go well.

Besides I would love to post pictures of them. They are the cutest little girls but of coarse I am bias, because I am mommy.

-
I saw a list like this on another blog I follow. I love the way it journals her life and so I hope to do the same thing. It is simple and for me most of the time simple things say more to my heart.
I am truely grateful. Even for those passing moments in my life when things like these happen. It is what makes up our day. I feel that if I can find more focus on the individual thingsin life, than life seems to throw quite a few good ones. It is when I forget about the little everyday moments and look only at the day as a whole that I feel like I or the day didn't measure up.
I would like to challenge anyone who reads this blog to write down for one week (7 days) the "little things" that happen each day. And if you don't mind come back and post your feelings here on this post. I too will take the challenge.
This just might be one of the secrets to joy & gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Should I or Should I Not!!!!
I have been having a hard time deciding on exactly what to share and what to leave as a draft. Today I have decided that I want to share.
I know that their are many who have different experiences with their adoption; but as for each of us it is our own experience. It is what we are going through, and that will be different for each person.
I personal have been experiencing a increase of desire to know who they are. Will everything come through for the children we have seen pictures of? It is hard to see pictures of faces, smiles, eyes, hands, hair, & even some attitude and not begin to fall in love with them. I have been doing my best to keep in mind that we don't have a referral and it is not final until it is final. But the fact is there is a part of me that has a hole in it, and those feelings tend to leak. I have done my best to siphon it back up but the ground is tender and ready.
So for the last week I have been feeling like I want to go now and pick up my children. I want to hold them and love them. I want to move forward. I want them to be with their mommy. And their mommy wants more than ever to be with them.

HELLO! UPDATE!

Another week gone by! This week I will be working everyday. WOW! I am happy for the work and sad to be away so much from the family. But really its just the night hours so it's not to bad.

We are still waiting for our I600A approval form called the I171-H form and we don't expect it for some time here is the -mail word for word. (Note no hello or good-bye what a friendly person) "We process files in the order they are received. There are at least 8 files ahead of yours. Once your file is reached, it will be reviewed. Since we process a lot of other kinds of applications/petitions it maybe awhile before your file is reviewed. 90 days is a normal processing time." I just love working with people like that.
The second bit of news fresh in this morning is it is going to be another 2 weeks before we hear about the referral. The childrens HIV test was done with the "Alicia test" - this test is not the most accurate and diffently not the latest kind. Lisa has requested for the PCR test to be done and that takes 10 days. They are also waiting on a document from the orphange that they came from originally. Lisa will be traveling to India as of Monday so she will be away for 2 weeks. We will pray the referral will be on her desk when she gets back.
I am really thinking that this year is out for travel. I wasn't sure what to expect with all the voices around telling me you may travel before the end of the year; but I am starting to feel much more comfortable with those thoughts. If I do the math our referral will come around Thanksgiving time and that will then leave us with 5 weeks of the year, I can't see that happening nor do I think it is possible. Besides we could seriously use our tax returns for some $$$$$$ help. :@)
This is my update!

Feeling Blessed
The last couple of weeks or more I have had something on my mind. Each night that I work I am reminded of just how blessed we are that I acted upon my feelings. I went in and placed my application just in the nick of time. I didn't realize just how close that one was until later. It was the very next week after starting my job that a group of five was hired. All but one are on call. This two night a week guarantee came open on Friday before they started. I have been able to get my set two days and also a call or two extra. This is truly a blessing, and I am so grateful for it.
Well as many of you have realized we have not recieved our referral yet. We recieved some fun and exciting news but not a referral. We will keep waiting for that. Things have been going really well and I am also grateful for that.
We are still waiting for our INS 171-H. We hope for it this week.
My mind is crashing on me so I will hopefully write before long. It seems I have hit a dry spell in the "sharing my feelings" department. I have some tender feelings that I have thought of only drafting at this point not posting. Still thinking about that.

You don't want to know!

This week has been one that will pass with joy. I have had it with this week. Meds gone bad, a shot, two root canals, sudated, throwing-up, swollen face, missed perscribed medicine (could have been real ugly), found a false report of our credit (dealt with that), broke a glass, on antibiotics and my house needs to be put back together. Oh and no news yet! But there is always tomorrow, which is Friday.

It's real!
Even our Zim is jumping for Joy! What a goofy dog we have. He is really a good boy!

Our Dossier has finally left Washington DC and will be headed for Ethiopia on Friday. What great a feeling. We are hoping to hear something on our referral over next couple of weeks. There is a few things with medicals, and investigations and so forth to wrap up. I was actually told by next week but I thought it a good thing to add some extra time to that. It is easy to find your excitement quickly bubbling over the edge. I am actually thinking along the lines of the 1st of Nov. that will hopefully keep me settled.

Others shared with me some things to keep myself busy with but as luck would have it when you are dealing with a women who loves staying on top of things, you quickly find that those things are also already done.
I will be having my adoption yard sale in two weeks. We will have a neighborhood sale where everyone is raising money for some reason or another. I will also post pictures of some of my jewelry. I have decided to get rid of some pieces that are doing us no good and truly hold no meaning to me. Except to say there beautiful and full of diamonds. But so are my children.
Watch out for the precious stone auction!
All sales will go to the adoption.

Weekday Happiness
The weekends seem to creep by. It used to be that I loved the weekends, but now feelings have change. I am sure anyone who has adopted would understand, the weekends bring no news and no movement. So tomorrow comes with excitement for me, tomorrow brings five more days of possiblities. I love it.
We have been trying to learn the Amharic language. My home will soon become the classroom with little black and white tags everywhere. We have hung the alphabet on the wall and it just looks beautiful. I love what happens when you bring other cultures into a home. For me it makes it feel warmer. We actually started learning back a couple months ago but have taken a pit-stop while finshing other things in life. We jumped back in this weekend and it feels so nice. I fear I may be sorry if I don't try to learn as much as possible before we get the little one(s) home.
So here are a couple words to learn:
(I am sure I am spelling them wrong, but use it for the sound not the spelling)
Church - danye
Swimming - wanna
Peace - sugamee
There has been no news yet as to our Dossier and I am hoping to find out by tomorrow. I will call them in the morning. Once again I feel like it is in our court since it is a problem that I may have to fix.
Work has been going very well. I was able to pick up an extra day last week so how it works is any extra days worked above my regular schedule is savings toward child number two. At this point we are starting from the beginning. So we now have $45 dollars started. YEAH!!!! I have order cookie dough and will be having a bake sale the months of Nov. & Dec. we will be sending around order forms with 3 different cookies, candy & some different pies on them. I am going to have a last chance yard sale here really soon. I have some nice items that have been donated like a bike, video shelves, kennel for a dog, gas dryer that is only one year old, and even a possible set of very nice coffee & end tables. All of this will go into that fund account ("The Thomas Center Fund Account" - a Utah account with Wells Fargo)for the actual adoption fees of child number two. And if we get a referral for one than it will go to the expense of travel which is a whole other thing that we have not address at this time. I have prayed & fasted the Lord will provide. Somewhere and somehow I know our prayers will be answered. We are doing our part which is our very best and leaving the rest. Now I say this like it is a simple thing, it has not been. I have worried and fretted about this. I have lost sleep over it and to be honest caused myself to become sick over it. But each day I must re-focus and remember the Lord in all this and remember to many blessing and answers to prayers have been answered thus far. I know that with all my heart our family is doing exactly what we should be, and that is reassureing. Some how it will all work out;^)

Are things up or down....
We got word of a possible problem with our Dossier today. I am not sure if it is worth the explaining or not but lets see how well we do. One of the forms for your dossier is called your cover letter. It is what it sounds like, a cover letter to the whole set of papers that tells exactly what is in it. Well one of the forms we left out, because long story made short - it is not needed at this point but since it is listed it should either be in there or not listed as a document included. That makes sense to me, but we over look it since it is sent to us as a pre-made document. So it gets even better it is also NOT one of the other 92 pages; No, its one of two that are authenticated and it only costs $50 a page to expedite it.
We will know tomorrow if they will let it slide or not. (Lets all pray for the nice lady, I was told there is one in that office) If not we will have a $100 mistake and a loss of a few days. Not cool..
I can only hope we will get through without that.
I did get some great information today on a different note. I have decided that if the little baby is young enough I will try to induce laction and nurse. If the child is older but still on bottle I may still induce laction and use that in a bottle. Life seems to be so linked to this adoption. So you will have to follow me with this one.
We decide to adopt
We don't have enough $$$
Because we need the $$ we pray for this awesome job
We get the job - Yeaaaaah
Taundra gets nervous beacuse of health problems
Taundra seeks help from doctor
Taundra gets help from Reglan (medicine)
Taundra wants so much to nurse
We want to save on $$ (formula)
Taundra researches
Taundra finds out that the very drug that is helping her health problems
Is what I need to help with nursing
Baby & Mommy have a better chance
What a great link of events. I love that little things like this can cause me to ping off the walls so excited & happy.
It seems like each time I turn around there is some other wonderful thing the Lord is fixing, preparing, or making happen for our family. I am so grateful for this experience.
What are their names? What do they look like? Is Liya my girl?
I want to hold , hug, & kiss our little ones!!!!!!!!
Just a small taste of my brain.

Just a small note..........
Well I thought I had better post and send the latest which is - Our Dossier is gone. It should be in Ethiopia by next week. Can you imagine one dossier was 94 pages of things and there had to be two orginals and two sets of copies all had to be notarized, and one set of copies for my own records. That make 5 sets in total, you do the math. HaHHHHHHH!!!! I think I have been feeling stressed out - wait I am stressed out. I so hope everything was done right.
I seem to have a problem filling my life with an enormous amount of to-do-things. I just cancelled one, so that feels alittle better. The Halloween Party! As much as I love parties, this girl just can't handle another thing on her plate.
I hope we will so hear back on the referral. I am pinging off the walls, check e-mail at least 6-7 times a day. Will there be a picture there, will she say call me, will I have the medical on Liya, is she a possiblity? Oh so many things run through my mind. People keep telling that if we have our referral by the end of the month we should travel before the end of the year, but I refuse to think about such an exciting thing. Well Tah-Tah for now.

Life can't get any better......

When each day goes by and you have one who is as wonderful as this one.

"Life can't get any better"

I truly love this man, after this picture was talken and I looked into the view finder my heart just melted. I remember many years ago when I saw him for the first time. I didn't want to fall in love, I wanted nothing to do with a man, but oh you know you are in trouble when he looks like this. He has caused me to fall in love with him all over again with this adoption. This is something I have wanted for so long - my whole life pretty much. My feelings are something I have tried to put into words and it has been hard. I think I have been able to catch at least a little of it in words. Through his own change of heart, he has opened a door in my life that I have stood by many times, knocking, hoping for, wishing for and praying to just turn the knob & let me in. I could never place in words my graditude for him giving me this opportunity to mother a child not of my womb but very much of my heart. One who had already been born there. At first I didn't reconize how I have been prepared for this through-out my life. Through those tender feelings, my heart has grown to love this child(ren) many years ago. And you just opened the door for me. Thank you Daddy.

I love you with all my heart !

My! My! How she has grown!

I thought I should write an update on how the adoption is going. The box now weights 13lbs 15ozs. I am so grateful that the weight is in this box and not in me. It has been so wonderful to be "pregnant" and still be human. My children still have a mommy, my sweetheart still has a wife, house cleaner, food maker and did I mention a wife. Oh yes I did!

Well today I got a call from our agency asking "where is your Dossier" they need it like now or want it like now. Which is wonderful to me, because that means something is happening. Should I venture to say a possible referral. No, couldn't be? Yes, could be?

Well as the call went on she said "we just got custody of two little baby yesterday and we need your Dossier". What? What? What? I think my heart must have been going crazy. My insides wanted to just say Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Can I move any faster? What do I need to do? So as you can imagine I have had many times today were the excitement over took me and I wiggled, jiggled, screamed, smiled, laughed and just couldn't sit still. And off to kinko's I went I think when I finished it was 95 copies in all. Tomorrow brings another day of polishing touches like the State Capitol (Secretary of State), and Fed-Ex (off to the Embassy of Ethiopia by courier to make a quick stop at the US State Department then back to the Embassy, just to be placed in an envelope signed, sealed and delivered back to the Agency in just a whole 3 days. Amazing stuff! And can I ask again why does it take our I600-A which sits on one desk behind the wall where we delivered it for 3 months? Oh, I am sorry back to the story.

She did say at some point she felt very comfortable telling us we would have our referral by the end of the month (Oct.) Can you say WOW!!!!!

With all this said I want everyone to know that this does come without caution because as they say "It's not over tell the fat chicken sings" -That ones for the sexy cowboy.

His own Feelings!

I love when you catch them having their own tender feelings. (BB) has been thinking a lot about his new little sister that will hopefully be with us soon. Twice now in the last week he has drawn or colored some very cute pictures.

This is a picture of our family. From oldest to youngest, or tallest to shortest. He shared with us that this was his new family. I love it. Children are so accepting and don't see the need to think different of others just because their looks are different from themselves. He allready loves his little sister is what he tells me in this picture, she is part of our family.

This was his second one he brought home, I love the choice of colors. He is growing up. It seems like yesturday he was struggling to stay inside the lines, no problems with that anymore. He is a great older child, he has been such a great example for (lg), he is now coping (BB) with asking to be excussed from the table. It is so cute.

I wanted to post about a wonderful opportunity. A must see.
Here is an excerpt from their web site.
"The African Children's Choir™ is an ambassador for all children in Africa who have become orphans because of the AIDS pandemic. They are their voice to the rest of the world.

The African Children's Choir™ is comprised of children ages seven to eleven. Many of the children in the Choir, have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease.

The African Children's Choir™ performs throughout the world bringing hope and joy to everyone they meet while shining the spotlight on the plight of children in Africa.

Your financial gifts to the African Children's Choir™ help support the ongoing delivery of Choir programs thereby allowing new Choirs to tour each year and past Choir members to enter into our care and education programs."
I know that our family and extended family has many who love and care about education. Many who they themselves have taught or do currently teach. I have heard from many about the music and show. They have said it was wonderful and they were glad they went. We will be going to one locally here next year. This also gives us an opportunity to extend our blessings to those who have so little.
The story behind there own lives is the story behind many children who come from Ethiopia. They too have suffered from the ravage of HIV/AIDS, diseases, drought, hunger and many other problems. It is from these hard lives that our family will have the opportunity to grow. It is a sad reality, but it is very real for them.
If you have the time & resources to go to one of there shows or even host one, please do so. You can only leave with your feeling richer for the joy you will find in giving something to someone who so much needs our help.

First, Second, Third, & Forth
First - (lg) has been such a sweet little boy for about a week now, maybe even more. I thought I was the only one noticing it but daddy also said something about it today. I hope it lasts, the "two's" have few and far between uneventful days.
Second - I have gotten through my first week at work. And have caught up on some much needed sleep. The first day was very scary. I ran all day on auto-pilot. I worked 4 days last week. We will see what this week brings. Each day is dollars more towards our kids:@)
Third - I have to share with you that I am getting stir-crazy, I find myself pacing thinking that I am suppost to be doing something. Yes, I know I need to be patient and many have waited so much longer to be just at the point at which we are. But just like any "normal" person you just want to see your little ones, hug them, and hold them. Let alone know their names.
Forth - I am planning a Halloween Party. And it's going to be big! Everyone's invited. If I could scare those teens (only 4 of them) last year, imagine the fun I will have this year, with a house full of family and friends:0)

One more milestone

I feel like we have reached another milestone in our adoption. Each step brings us closer to the day we have them in our arms. So tonight I feel so excited, why? all I am doing is more fingerprints for the INS! I After this approval is given our Dossier goes to Ethiopia. It's the first page in a new chapter.

Tomorrow is my craziest day, I need not go through the schedule it will start at 6:00am and end somwhere around 1:30am the next day. That will not be the norm, just tomorrow.

I found out today that our homestudy was also approved/finalized on my Birthday, just one more awesome thing that happened on that day.

Hair raising schedule!

This is how I feel and look when the phone rings, when I look around the house, & when I think of all the things waiting on me to finish, fix, do, pick-up, or get.

Daddy has asked me to only volunteer for "bringing doughnuts" but no I couldn't just bring "doughnuts". That is me, the one who loves to do what I call "the fun stuff". The stuff that takes hours upon hours to complete. And Daddy is not alone in his feelings. My personal secretary often protests. She will conveniently leave on a break in the middle of a sentance or even spelling a word, she will take vacations sometimes for days, but I learned to let everyone know that if it's not on my calendar its not safe. I think she has begun to think that she is close to retirement, the bad thing is she has many more years of this highly involved boss. I can only hope she will hang in there.

But there is always a light at the end, two more weeks of class for me and we are done, these first few weeks of PTO stuff is crazy but once organized it should just be one thing at a time, work will become a schedule and so you see the giant mess of things start to become smoothed just like the top of a wedding cake; it takes alot of time at first but it quickly falls into place.

Birthday Girl

Today was my day and what a great birthday it has been. I received Happy Birthday's from so many of you. Some in the form of songs, cards, messages, and popsicles. Thank you.

Gifts received are:

Book -"There Is No Me Without You" by Melissa Faye Greene- One women's odyyssey to rescue Africa's children. It is from a women who owns and operates an orphange in Addis Ababa, and has shown to be controversal. I have heard many comments on both sides of the fence but have found that I want to still read it. Due to the true picture it paints of what it is like for the children and the orphange but mostly the kids. I am sure I will share some thoughts & excerpts from it in later posts.

Book light - not just any old book light this one is a sheet that lays over the page and lights only the page you are reading it is so nice. I can't wait to use it, I bought re-chargeable batteries. My hope is to read while in bed next to my sweetheart.

Stereo for my car - thanks to my very active (lg) I have no music in the car. He decided it was a piggy bank and shorted out the whole thing. So I have been driving around for some time now without any music. I thought I could last and I have been doing pretty good but man I miss the tunes. Not to mention other things are starting to short out so I need to get that stereo out of there. Yikkes!

$30 - With this I want to buy some more music (CD's)

Popsicles - I love popsicles!

???? - And the last gift of the day was from my Heavenly Father at about 8:30 pm I got the phone call. I have been hired to clean the Temple. I am so happy about this. What a great gift as I was saying in one of my earlier posts this is a true blessing for everyone. Isn't the Lord kind. I have kept faith, and hope then turned it over to him. I meet with them on Thrusday have my orientation next Tuesday & Wednesday and off we go. This will be such a great way to end each day. Daddy is not so sure, but I told him it his chance to do things his way for bedtime. Like getting to bed by 9:00pm each night and starting at 8:30pm. The night owl will be gone. I am telling you sleep is over rated. I am sure I will want an occasional nap, but to me it seems to waste precious time.

As you can tell it has been yet another wonderful day. Thank you to everybody I had a great birthday. The pictures above are not from today but they are great pics of me doing something I love chating and laughing.

What time is it?
This is a question I have begun to ask myself. Is it because I am just curious or is it a way for me to be that much more in tune with my children? I have placed a clock on this blog because often I find my self wondering something about them. Where are they, what are they doing, is someone holding them or playing with them, do they have food, are they warm, is someone there to say I love you? I soon came to relize that I would go to another blog just to know what time it was there. It made me feel a little closer to them, is it dark outside or light, are they sleeping or awake, is it almost dinner time (hopefully), are they playing just where might they be? It is my way of knowing a small part of their life, it is my way of loving them daily and even from moment to moment.

Singing, Clapping & Eternal Friends
Well the evening went as expected. GREAT! I love the Practice Song(s). They only do one, and I have found myself wishing they did more. The song this month was "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands". After the song was over we were givin the thumbs down and had to sing again. The chorister warns you before you start that if there isn't enough signing , clapping, and joy we must sing the song again. So we did, and I am so glad we did. I could go on forever about how great the music is at Genesis, but if you have ever sat in a Baptist meeting where they sang then you know what I am talking about. The true love of signing to the Lord comes out, and it is impossible to not feel it.
The Relief Society Presidenecy spoke (they were just given this new assignment) and what a great group of ladies. As I listened to them speak & share their testimony I was touched. They are a great example of Daughters & Mothers in Zion. As I sat and listened one of them really touched & struck me strongly. I was filled with a filling of love for her, and as she stood there I knew she was someone special to me. She is absolutely beautiful, her cheeks were high and pronounced, she smiled a smile that was heavenly, her eyes are almond shaped & spoke words of kindness and wisdom, she is danity in her features, and her hair said she was fun and lively. I think what hit me the most though was how there was something she could teach me about African mothers. (This has been something that has been on mind mind lately and will have to be talked about in another post). I love when the spirit prompts you in these ways. So I took the opportunity to meet her and share with her some of these tender feelings I had felt. The only thing I can hope for is that I didn't cause her think "what a crazy lady". :@)
One of the things she shared with me is that she does hair & teaches classes on how to do hair. That will be of great worth to me, even with my experiences many years ago.
So as you can tell it was a wonderful experience and it was so nice to have Nancy & Jon there with me.

And today went by.......
Once again it is the first Sunday of the month, so that means we will be going to the Genesis Group. Fun Stuff. We are also having Nancy over for dinner and she will be going with us to Genesis. I hope the practice song is as great as last months. "This Little Light of Mine". It was truely one of the highlights.

Jump Started and Off We Go
I am back in the swing of things. By the end of the last night I had the bathroom cleaned and mopped, the kitchen back in business and mopped with even a dinner made and ready by 3:30, the house vacumed, the dog room clean, wiped down, new bedding in their kennels, and even the long awaited fridge move from the garage into its new home. Oh, and did I mention the boys room was also cleaned up, and a few loads of laundry done and the entire front yard was free of weeds. Man the things you can do when you have your body back.
The crazy thing is the ship needs waxed and cleaned everyday without break. I think my sister has the idea. She cleans tip-top shape in the morning and off they go never to return until the evening hours and whamie you have a house that stayed clean all day. My problem is I don't have the money she does to keep up with all that fun while out and food to keep smiles on their faces. But it sure sounds good.
I have been so excited lately finding myself thinking is this real, am I really going to be mommy to someone I have always wanted to be mommy to. I then find myself say "yes this is real and you will soon be able to love, hold, kiss, and teach the beautiful things of life to". It is so amazing that you can find yourself loving this child(ren) who you know nothing about, and have so many natural feelings of parenting for. I have thought about their mother many times and the love & respect I have for her, and the hard choice that she had to make. I think about the day when I get to meet her for the first time (in this life or the next) and what I will say to her or what I will do when I see her. I can only imagine wrapping my arms around her and saying thank you, and telling her that they are still part of her life. As a mommy who has lost a child & not by choice. I could not imagine that not being a very tender moment and that you would still have that longing in your heart for that child. What I mean when I say "by choice" for them it could simple mean not having the means to care for a child(ren), and at that point having no option but to simply love that child more than you love yourself and placing them with an agency; or knowing that she was sick and would not make it much longer. As Blaine has said many times "not one of these little ones have come to this point without tragedy happening in their life first". This is so true and I simply hope and pray that we will be able to add a ray of sunshine & lots of love to their lives as they have ours.

Germs those mean, heartless guys.

I can't believe how much power is packed in little germs. I have been very sick for the last two days. How is it that every joint, muscle & bone can ache. How is it that you have no ability to move about, when just a day or so ago you went hundred miles an hour. Your eyes are about to pop or burn, and nothing you take will stop the trobbing inside your head. Meanwhile trying to still be mommy! It is not fare, I really believe there should be a mommy pill or better yet we should all be blessed with the power of twinkling our noses. But here is the good news I feel like I can actually move about without great strength. I still have the yuckie cough that has made my throat raw and leaves behind the taste of blood as I cough. It is kinda interesting because that is one of my pregnancy problems (causing my throat to bleed from the throwing-up). I know "to much info". The great part is that this will stop as soon as my cough tones down. Last night I had to go to school this way, it was sooooo not fun. In this class I am also team teaching so I would have to say that so far it was the class I taught the most in and had to run examples for the students. I'am thinking I had no clue what I was doing it is all kinda blurry, hopefully I didn't seem that way while teaching. To end here is a picture of me for the last couple of days. Yuck.

One last thing the house what is up with all the mess that happens while you are out of order, just not fare. We need magic noses to twinkle.

While picking Zim up from the groomers Daddy got into an accident on the freeway. They are doing just fine, but the poor drivers back door is pretty crushed leaving the gutts showing in some areas. The car next to him slammed on his brakes to stop and lost control and came into his lane. Thank goodness he is fine and is not hurt.

We have our appointment with the INS office Sept. 12th to file our I600-A.

All is well, we are having Cornbeef & Cabbage for dinner. Yummy

The Fingerprints are in!
I could not have had a better e-mail today. We got news that our FBI fingerprints are in. This is so great considering that we were told 12-18weeks. It has been just over one month. Yippie!!!! Yippie!!! I am so excited. What this means is we can close our Home Study and go down to the INS office and file more fingerprints for our I-600A, once we have that approval we will be sending in our Dossier. So please keep praying for us. This is great news; we can move forward and be just one more step closer to getting our little ones home. I had to update you right away. Today I have had a sore throat and my energy is down, so I will not stay up to write much more.
What GREAT news.

First & Last
There is always a first and last to everything. Today we had our first day of school. (BB) was as happy as they come. He said his favorite part of school was recess. He must be normal. I'am so happy with his school. As I walked around it was so nice to see so many people of different races. It was nice to see that the kids are expected to act with manners in the halls and to others around them. It is a "private school without the fees".
And our last day of in home visits with our Social Worker before are children come home. We will have one when we get back from Ethiopia, but for now this was one of our steps before moving forward. We are actually going to have to still wait for the Home Study to be completed upon FBI background checks being finshed, but awhhhh I can breath. It actually was quite fun. As she left tonight she said she thought we were a great family and she looks forward to our visit after we get back with the kids. So I think we passed.
The next thing that I would just love to hear from is the job at the Temple. I haven't given up hope, I just know it would be such a great blessing for us. We really need it, our children in Ethiopia need it. So for now I will not rest in my prayers for this one.
It seems as though life has left 3 gear and went straight to 6th well "overdrive". I have been extremely busy. The good news is there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I have now 4 more weeks left of school for me. School has started for (BB) and summer is passing with all its extra fun things to do outside. Again Awhhhhh. I am so excited for fall to come actually I would be happy to zip through the next seasons and on to Ethiopia but that is not going to happen at that rate so for now I will enjoy the time I have to save, save, save. It has been very hard. It seems that life knows what we are doing and is giving all kinds of new problems to fix that takes money.
This Sunday I get to teach in Relief Society on the Holy Ghost. What a wonderful topic. I love being a teacher, it just seems that I get so many opportunities to be taught by the spirit. As of lately I have had a bit of a problem with getting my thoughts together. Now for those of you who know me pretty well, will know that this is not normal. Like a couple of days ago I sat down to read the lesson again, and just kept having my mind wonder. It wasn't wondering on just nothing it keep going to this same thought and how would I organize this area and so forth. Well what I am getting at is I think I will be getting released from my calling and called into another. Yes, I know where my mind is telling me this new calling is at, but I shall not share, for fear someone might hear:-). This actually started about 4 months ago, and I have just fought it with my all. So you will have to stayed tuned for the out come.
Well I have said enough for the night. I hope all my readers are having fun with us. I know I am.
Good Night.

Adoption Update!
We have now meet with our Social Worker twice. The first week she came and looked at the house & had private interviews with Daddy and (BB). (BB) was excited to give the 10 "YES" questions. He was so proud telling me all the way back "I said YES to all of the questions". Later on we asked him so what kind of questions did she ask well a bunch of questions like: Do you like your family? Do you like to color? Do you like the idea of adoption? I would have to say all together it was a pretty good meeting. At the next meeting it was our history meeting. So Moms & Dads your life was talk about, and ours too. It will be my turn next time to have a private one on one, and that will be it.
We are still waiting to file our I600-A until the HS is complete and finshed. That is a bummer because we will be waiting for the finger prints again and approval for it before we move forward to our Dossier sent in.
I had a dream last night that they call sometime before the end of the year and told us to travel. That would be so great if that happened, but very unlikely. I know alot hasn't happened with the process but we are adding to the service project(s) supplies here is an update on that:
350 Pencils
170 Eraser Tops
20 Pencil Sharpners
168 Blue/Black Ink Pens
25 Boxs of Crayons
4 containers of foam stickers (1200 stickers)
11 Color Books
100 Note Books
16 boxs of Bold Markers "washable"
11 protractor rulers
19 rulers
40 Glue sticks
and to go with the first-aid supplies
4 tubes of toothpaste
I would like to taper off of the the school/activity Bags and work on instruments and first-aid supplies. If you want to contribute to this wonderful cause just let me know at :
if you want it to go to a specific item just put that in an e-mail, the account for this adoption & its service projects is up and running, just e-mail if you would like info on that also. Thank you
The pictures above are of the new supplies and instruments that have been donated from the music store.

UPDATES
Start back a few maybe 4 or 5.
I couldn't fit them all in one for some reason the pictures take to much space or something.
And back home......

Well we made it back home thanks to our great driver (lg), it was a little bumpy but were back. As you can see in the picture he didn't want it to end.
"Callin all Cowgirls"

This ones taken.
WOW!

I just couldn't pass up this one, I'am sure I will be in big trouble tomorrow.

It's a Goose.
Back at the Lake...

He started out clean & dry, but with boys does that ever last?
(lg) is eating lunch, well I don't think I would call it lunch but he like it.

He loved the water laying in it flat on his tummy, dipping his head in it, digging fingers in it, oh he just loved each moment.

How could you not just love the joy that they seem to find in each little thing. These are the moments that we remember as parents.

WOW!!!!
Where did she go?
Here I am!
Sorry for the extremly long down time. We took a trip for our 9th aniversery to Portland, OR. We had such a wonderful time. One of the nights we even went out for Ethiopian food at the Blue Nile. Daddy and I have had Ethiopian food a few times now, so we are getting used to the food and even finding favorites. I have decided that I like my Injera not so sour.

We also enjoyed some time at the lake. Our boys really had a blast. (BB) went all the way out to the island and played with cousins, he found a liking to the green blob.

(BB) also loved the sand

and then floating around with the tube.

As you can see he really had fun, these are the things you remember for the rest of your life as a kid. I love being his mommy.

What a Great Day!
Today was a great Sunday. I would have to say that most fast Sunday's are very hard on me. Mostly because of the headaches that come after fasting, but not today. Yes, I did still get a headache, but for some reason I have been so excited for fast Sunday to come that I didn't really mind the headache.
Stephen has been totally (sick) out of it since Wednesday, and man I am not a top notch nurse for my sweetheart. Sorry Stephen, I did get him the "Lord of the Ring" series and sprite, soup, and a couch in the basement where he has been pretty much cast-out to. Here it is Sunday night and finally he has said he thinks he is on the up swing, Oh I hope that is the case. He was part of my fast today.
This evening I was able to attend the Genesis Group, for those of you not sure of what that is you will need to go back a do some reading. It was wonderful. The opening/closing prayer was very heart felt. I love when you get to be part of a prayer that has been spoken from the heart. The words that were used were not your everyday words. They really shared there testimony through them, you could feel and hear the love they have for their Heavenly Father and Savior. After that they introduced all the new people there for the first time. WOW, there was about 20-30 of us newbies. They seemed very happy to have so many new people. But I would have to say that my favorite time there was the the music/practice song. It was a blast. We sang the song " I'am Gonna Let It Shine". We all stood up and clapped and sang with such excitement. It was truly wonderful. I felt for just a moment that I was somewhere eles in the world enjoying the Gospel with such excitement. All the other songs where reverently sang, but wow I have never heard real signing until tonight. Everyone had such a wonderful time signing, you could fill the joy in the room. So for any visitors this is a must, you will have to visit during fast Sunday's which is the first Sunday of the month. We had a branch President that was there from Trinidad and he bore his testimony. I was telling Stephen that after I left and was driving home from the services, I couldn't help but to fill so very spiritually rich inside, and spoilled to be able to have these opportunities. I loved it.
During the hour and half of services they have Primary/Nursery and YM/YW going on at the same time. So you and the kids are able to really enjoy. Next time BB will go into Primary and we will just have to hope lg is doing better with nursery by then.
TaTa for now...
