KING
To know the history of the word "King".
"King" originated from the Hebrew language. In Latin its word for "King" is "Gen" both meaning life or origin. It was then found to have been changed slightly to "Kin" which also had a slight meaning change - family, or one who treats you like family. Shortly later we see the word "Kin-ing" which spread with the meaning of giving & protecting life. Now today we use the word "King" meaning a man or woman that protects.

Finding my Joy as a Mother
This has been the path of growth this year for me. With that has come some changes in our home that has enabled me to begin my path of becoming a greater Mother for these little ones that have been sent here to our home. With much of it being slower than I wanted, so this has been part of my learning too.
Last week while sitting through a day of classes it hit me as I sat there feeling totally and completely overwhelmed with where I am not as a Mother. I felt this hit with such clarity in my heart.
" My dearest Taundra, if I wanted all my children to be Tom's or Sally's. I would have made you all exact with same experiences and growth. But I don't. I want individuals born to become who they were meant to become which means individual life's experiences different from one to another".
Wow! What could I say. What an amazing gift of comfort I have felt since than. Coming to understand what is not expected of me (where others may be & I am not) has lifted not just the feelings of comparing but given me freedom to feel good about where I am as a Mother. This topic of comparing is covered in one of my classes I have started to teach out of my home. " Building a Greater "You" within Me". I love when the Lord reminds us over and over the things we know but need to still improve upon.
One of the things we have decided on was to pull our children closer into the home and family by teaching them an education at home. It has been fun discovering and learning as parents what the most important things are. That has been a whole lot tougher than just typing out the words to this entry. Little by little we are forming some guidelines for us and the children. We have found a wonderful structure that does a beautiful job not only supporting a scholar education but most important one that supports our beliefs. It is called "A Thomas Jefferson Education" It uses phases that are natural to learning. This coupled with the support of Heavenly Father and his guidance will provide for these little ones their own "becoming".
This has also done something within me I don't think I had yet felt up to this time. I have felt freedom to be the Mother I was always meant to become. I love it!!!! It seems strange I was always thinking I needed just one more hour of quite time, and then it would happen and I would become that mother. While those moments are still important for me they are not as much the "becoming" moments as they are the needed moments of survival. For some crazy weird reason I feel like I have all the permission in the universe to not care for anything else during our time each day together. No phones, no door bells, just me and the kids. What can I say - a break from the world. To truly follow a scripture. (I always read this under a different lens). Matthew 10:39 - Who ever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it".
Let my testimony be born here that I know these children belong to Him and I have found my life in my children. It is through this tough process that I am stretch each day to lower my voice & speak kindly, say I am sorry, try again, and in most cases repeat the process. As I have lost myself I have found myself in the Joys of Motherhood. I know my Savior lives and redeems me every day. He makes me new and gives the rising sun to shine upon our household. This is joy, something of eternal nature. Even in my imperfections. It is just not wise for me to pass by these learning experiences without my Savior if I am to "become" a Mother filled with Joy.
Proverbs 14:1 - "The wise women builds her house
Proverbs 31:25-28
25 Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her.

Desiring Commitment
Reaching out not to far is a desire to hop back on my blog. It has been some time since I have been active in keeping my journal entries and I do miss them. I have been needing a writers outlet. Not to say I am a pro at being classified as a writer but I surely have the desire to give it a go again. The end result will be near to perfect for my prosperity. Just trying and get it down on paper will be what I say is "near to perfect". So here we go again.

Meditation
This has become my saving time. I started last June 2007 to learn about meditation and how it works. These are things I have learned and been blessed with because of it.
It started back in June last year when I found myself at the gym at 1:00am. At the time I was working nights and would get off at 1:00am then drive myself to the gym. I started & ended my work-out time with stretching & breathing. I loved it and within a week I could feel a difference. The difference wasn't huge at first, it was just moments of feeling calmer, more positive and feeling a personal difference within my own soul.
By the end of one month I could tell in my joy, patience, more love for my kids. It also began to effect my over all feeling of health. Now I know that was also my workout starting to change my physical body to a healthier state. I also know it was a huge part of my meditation. I have done a work out plan before many times. This time it was different inside there was so much more happening and I could tell.
I have moved forward to the current day with my meditation. Learning and practicing. I now call this my great remedy to so many things; mental, physical and spiritual.
The blessings of the spiritual side are having those moments to be absolutely still. In this life that can be difficult if not impossible at times. We find ourselves just making it through the day with maybe a second of stillness just before our mind drifts off into sleep. Most of the time if not always we don't even remember that moment happening.
The spirit is a still & small voice.
I have felt at times that spirit quickly whispering something to me while in meditation. I make a note and let it past until I am done and each time it has been exactly what I was supposed to do for my Heavenly Father that day. To me this is a priceless gift.
My health is also priceless.
I am a better mom and wife.
A better & calmer person.
I share this with you since I have just change the look of my Blog. It was a perfect fit for me.
I am balancing my life with the help of meditation.
This has become my balancing tool.

1 Year Later
Wow, what a year we have had. I think for me life is opening some time to start journaling again. Each day that passes I am so grateful for the passed year. We have had a year and half of growing, learning, and loving. There are many days that pass on our clocks and I am finding many minutes that warm my heart as a mommy.
So welcome back!

BB's Update

BB is all grown up. He has become a young boy. The nice thing is he will still let me give him loves. He has been a big help and at times thinks he is the boss to his brother and sisters. He has been so loving with Meg and has really come around with Beea. He has manage to still be a pretty good kid, even when he is testing the bigger waters of independence.

Beea's Update

She is speaking all English. It was so funny the other night I had asked her to throw away a diaper and she came over to me and said Yes, your Majesty with a bow and all. So funny! We are slowly making stranger danger progress but it is slow. She has had a few memories of Ethiopia that has come out and what special moments those have been. Tender for her but wonderful for me to see and witness her love for those who came before us. Today it was a memory of a grass hut. See called it her home or house in Ethiopia. You could see the twinkle in her eye when see saw it come up on the screen. She said " I want to go to my home my house in Ethiopia. So sweet!! We have had some very good talks about these feelings and it seems to be such a good thing for her. She always ends with a big hug and a "I love you mommy", then a smile swells across her face and off she goes to play. She has learned the fine art of warming you up.

lg's Update
He is finally getting some length to his legs. He has turned three and we or should I say I am sad to see the bottle go. He was drinking it but I provide the habbit. Oh it was so hard for me to say good bye to the baby years with him. Now I know many of you may be saying what are you talking about he hasn't been a baby for some time. I know but in my mind he has been, he has stayed so little it tricked me. He is still go, go, go. Along with crash, crash, crash.
We were camping in this shot.(above) It took only 2 mins. and he was covered in dirt.

Update on Meg
She has been growing like a weed. She is now pulling up on the furniture and making all kinds of sounds. She loves to laugh and smile. She also loves her daddy and at this point mommy is just ok.

She lost her hair to the BIC. We have had to battle ringworm for way to long. (Feb.) I wasn't going to take any more chances and so we parted with the hair. I actually love it, she is still so pretty. It just gave her a tougher look.Tuesday, April 17, 2007

What happen to the days of posting?
It seems as if life has taken off. It has not slowed down for even a moment. I have so many things I would like to get done. But I thought if I didn't write soon I would loose my readers. I know there is not many of you but the few are precious. So here goes my fifteen minutes of fame. We have been getting into a schedule (if you can call it that), OS is learning her boundaries, lg is teaching her the ropes of the fine art to trouble, BB is growing up so fast ans seems to been at least two years older than when the girls came home, and ls is getting around with her crippled combat crawl and finding food such a joy. As for this Mommy my dream at this point is to have one very large walk in closet, two washing machines, and a weekly 1&1/2 massage. And of course a huge dose of more patience, love and smiles. Daddy has been very busy with work and us. We keep him going from sun to sun down. He has had a couple of moments to catch some awesome pictures that I will have to share later. My time is up and I need to put on my taxi hat. Tata for now!

BB
I love this boy with all my heart. He is my firstborn. I remember when he was so little, just tiny enough to still lay in my arms. I would rock him for hours singing to him in some language that know one would even know. Then one day he seemed to know his ABC's and then sounds. We were so amazed at his ability to know so much at such a tender little age. He could even write some his ABC'S at 18 months and he knew them by sight by 19 months. That just seemed so young and now I know after having more it was.
So why do I highlight such a great person today? Well today was parent teacher conference and once again I was reminded of this wonderful little spirit we have in our home. His teachers spoke of his greatness with such joy. He is an achiever, he loves math and does very well in it. He has the drive to do his homework and classwork without help. She said she never has to tell him or encourage him he just LOVES to do it. He is 1 of 4 of all the kindergartners that is at his level of reading. And just today he showed his love for school and learning by staying in from recess to finish his reading book. One of the most wonderful things that was said about him to me was that of his personality. She said that he is one that has a dynamic personality. He shares that love of learning with all around him. And when he is not there it is noticed by all in the classroom. BB brings somethings with him and they love it.
